At the turn of the millenium 14 Shipibo Conibo families arrived in Cantagallo, a section of the city in the outskirts of Lima, the capital of Peru.

They came from the Ucayali region in the Amazon jungle of the country. Possibly they were offered land lots by the then presidential candidate Alejandro Toledo if they backed him with votes.

Currently about 200 Shipibo Conibo families live there.

The works of art you see here represent their lives.
